Julius Caesar turns to psychological warfare … Tortuous Convolvulus the Roman agent is guaranteed to sow jealousy and discord anywhere. Can he make the Gauls suspect each other of treachery?

Has Asterix really sold Rome the secret of the magic potion? And can Asterix, Obelix and Getafix outwit the weedy but wily Convolvulus and get the village back to normal?

What the druids have to say about the album

The Gaulish village is increasingly becoming a character in its own right in the Adventures of Asterix. The intrusion of a Roman ‘secret agent’ who can stir up ill-feeling gives the authors the chance to develop the secondary characters and introduce new ones, such as the wife of Geriatrix (who, like the village, has still not been given a name) and that of Fulliautomatix.

The different means Caesar uses to get rid of the pocket of Gaulish resistance are becoming more and more pernicious, threatening the harmony that usually reigns in the village. This enables the authors to show just how they excel in painting a social picture, using astute observation and unstoppable humour.
